Students Rock Out for a Cure

Tau Kappa Epsilon, a fraternity at TU, recently hosted their first Rock for the Cure concert in PAWS where they raised more than $500 for their newly chosen philanthropy, St. Jude's Research.

During the event the fraternity also held a date auction where the brothers were auctioned off to students in the crowd. The brothers ranged from $5 to $45! The brothers were also auctioned off with gift certificates.

C.T. Sartory was quoted: “There is nothing worse than seeing a young child stricken with an illness that’s incurable, so we are going to do anything we can to raise as much money and as much awareness for that as possible. You can bet that this won’t be the last event that TKE does here.”

I agree with everything that the reporter stated. She gave important facts including how much money was raised, what went on at the event and what their new philanthropy is. However, I think it would add more to the article to get a quote from someone who attended the event. Maybe to see why they attended the event and what the thought of it. I also think it would have helped the article if the reporter explained exactly what St. Jude's Research is. There was a quote from a member of TKE about it but it didn't go into enough detail I felt.
